Margaret “Maggie” Alai, was born in Tehran, Iran on 2.14.1954. It was no coincidence that she was born on the Feast of St. Valentine, for she was a devout believer and bestower of love. An eternal optimist, our mother was dedicated to those she loved, and those who needed her. Her heart and door were always wide open. Always. She did not judge. She forgave for miles–and miles.
As Madonna would say, she had style, she had grace…lady with an attitude. She was our lioness–fiercely protective and always fortifying us with her love and belief in our substance.
She was the kind of human anyone would want on their side–strong and dedicated, able to orchestrate the joys of life, and shoulder the burdens.
She was our best friend, your great friend…
She had a love reservoir so large, she could have powered world peace.
Margaret, Maggie as she was known to family and friends, daughter of Jamal and Rezvan, third of 6 children, is survived by Arash and Asal Azalea, who hope to live up to their mother’s honor, and legacy of good thoughts, good words, and good deeds. Ramin and Luca, her grandchildren–the joys of her life, continue on her childlike enthusiasm for life and adventure.

In Maggie’s honor (and in place of all tangible extensions of your condolences), we ask you to consider furthering her cause. She was active in, and passionate about bringing the light and uplifting effect of education to the far reaches of villages in Iran (or elsewhere). Two of the charities are vetted by Charity Navigator and well known. Yari Foundation, a Persian charity out of Sweden, specifically furthers children’s education in Iran.
Thank you.

We were thinking how we met Maggie at the Farmers Market through my late father and this friendship continued till now. We are very fortunate to get to know Maggie and she was one of our lovely friend with a big heart in our life. I remember in one of our gathering she was talking about her project in Iran and helped a lot of children through her charity. She is always in our heart and remember her kindness and warm welcoming in her house. Ravanash Shad??❤️
Happy birthday Maggie joon , sending you lots of love .
Thank you for 40 some years of memories which I cherish them all .
Memories which are reminding me of your beauty , kindness , generosity, sacrifices and achievements . You are always in my heart .
I am deeply saddened to hear 5 yrs later that my dear Dr. Alai had passed. She has been in my thoughts and wondered how she has been. I worked with Dr Alai in Solano, up until she retired and moved back to SD. She and I worked in 1 clinic, she was my Dentist, I was her number 1 asst. for years!! We had a blast, she was funny, caring, loving and we became really good friends.
We kept touch thru phone calls and texts, I went to SD on a vacation and I met up with her where she met my family. It was a beautiful reunion and friendship. My family loved her!
I texted her during Covid to see how she was doing, but never got a text back. I didn’t want to think something bad happened to my friend so I assumed she changed her number.
I searched you today hoping I would find a new contact number, but never in my wildest dream would I think I would find a memoriam.
I will miss you Dr Alai. You have special place in my heart.
Remembering Maggie,
Not with sadness, not with tears,
But with all the laughter and cheers,
Her wonderful life was worthwhile,
Knowing that she passed along the way and made somebody smile,
Her presence, love and kindness will forever be with us.
Miss you my friend.
Rest In Peace
Maggie joon studied at Uni with my mum, Marjaneh. I remember Maggie joon for her funny and kind personality. She welcomed us to her home and we had an amazing time in her house. I will never forget it and will keep close to my heart.
I met Maggie joon 1972, we went together at the University, Dental School. She was a sweet and kind person with a beautiful smile. With positive energy. She got married and so did I. Our friendship continued and we kept in touch even when she moved from Tehran and we moved to Sweden. I was her guest for a few days in San Diego and she welcomed us with love. We had an amazing time which I will never forget. She and I were always in touch even when living in London. Our last conversation was 10 days before she left us. I can’t still believe she is gone. Every time we spoke even when she was unwell she was smiling and had positive energy. I will never forget her and forever keep her memories close to my heart. Her beautiful and talented children Asal & Arash must know she was very proud of them for being very successful. With love
I will always remember her as a lively, strong, educated woman dedicated to her family. She has raised two strong amazing Kids that continue to give back to society in her honor. May she Rest In Peace.

I met Maggie through my late father at farmer’s market in 1991.
Maggie had such a positive influence on my Dad that he wanted me to meet her. (My Dad was a man of few words.)
Maggie enlightened any place with her presence. She was a dear friend.
She is my heart forever and always remember her lovely sense of humor. ❤️
Dear Dr Alai, unfortunately I never had a chance to meet you in person but I feel like I know you through your amazing daughter Asal. You have left your legacy through your children rest in peace. You have done a wonderful job and you will be dearly missed ?
Thank you for having us,
We are deeply missing a lovely friend who was like a sister to me and my wife Arezu.
She may Rest In Peace
Asal and Arash jan, I’m sending my deepest condolences to you both. I have fond memories being around your mom that I will always cherish. She raised two exceptional humans that I have the pleasure to call friends. I know you both are carrying her legacy on.
I met Maggie joon in 1995 shortly after I met my dear friend, Asal. I always enjoyed seeing her when I visited Asal. She was lively, sweet, loving, caring, fun, and hardworking. I got to know Maggie more when I spent time with her at her dental practice. She inspired me to become a dentist and later on an endodontist. I loved hearing her stories. She was extremely intelligent and an exceptional dentist. A true professional who deeply cared about her patients well being. Maggie joon, I can still see your smile and hear your beautiful laughter. You are always in my heart.
